Post Surgery Contact Lenses

Dr. Mitchell is presenting a paper, "Soft Lens Fitting to the Post Surgical Cornea" at the American Academy of Optometry meeting in San Francisco, November 2010. A link to this paper will be placed here once the Academy provides it.

Current Studies Underway as of May 2010

 Dr. Mitchell is a clinical investigator for the major contact lens and eye pharmaceutical companies.

1. Contact Lens Study

We are working on a contact lens study slated to begin late June 2010.

What you get from participating:

  • an eye and contact lens evaluation from Dr. Mitchell,
  • payment for your time by the lens manufacturer,
  • contact lens trials at no cost to you.

What you need to participate

  • you must have had an eye exam within the prior 12 months,
  • you must have a current contact lens prescription,
  • your prescription must fall within the range of the current study,
  • you must agree to keep all scheduled appointments,
  • there are other, more specific requirements.

If you qualify, you will be contacted by the office. Do not call the office to check on your status, as we will contact you. Many patients do not qualify for a specific study, but may qualify for future studies. We will keep your information on file, and will contact you if you qualify.

2. Post LASIK or PRK Refractive Surgery Contact Lens Study

This study is being performed by Dr. Mitchell without support or funding from any source other that our office. As such, there is no reimbursement offered to the patients, but Dr. Mitchell is donating additional time required to complete the evaluations.

What you get from participating:

  • an eye and contact lens evaluation from Dr. Mitchell,
  • contact lens trial lenses at no cost to you.

What you need to participate

  • you must have had an eye exam within the prior 12 months,
  • have had either LASIK or PRK surgery,
  • are having vision problems,
  • you must agree to keep all scheduled appointments,
  • there are other, more specific requirements.

Cost

  • You will be responsible for costs for our usual contact lens fitting and evaluation fees,
  • Your insurance may help cover these costs,
  • Although there is a cost to you to participate, you will receive services at a substantial discount. In addition, you will have the chance to have Dr. Mitchell, the country's leading expert in soft contact lenses after refractive surgery evaluate and treat your eyes.

Dr. Mitchell Presenting Paper at National Meeting

Dr. Mitchell's scientific paper, "Correcting Irregular Astigmatism with Multifocal Soft Contact Lenses" has been accepted for presentation at the American Academy of Optometry meeting this November. He will be discussing this topic with other doctors from across the world and hopes to get more insight so that he can help patients with difficult to address vision problems.
